Service Description
OT social groups are designed to meet each clients goals and provide opportunities for peer modeling and social engagement. Research states that children learn from watching each other do a task. Social groups facilitate meaningful interactions and engagement with peers. They can also help in helping a child feel less alone in their experience. Social skill groups will assist in learning: sharing, taking turns, cooperating with other children, following directions, respecting personal space, sustaining friendships, social communication (verbal, gestural, facial expression, tone of voice, and body language), manners/greetings, eye contact, entering in a conversation or play, empathy, or imagination.
