Our clients range across the life span. Some of our clients have a diagnosis, whereas others do not. Some of the conditions we treat include ADHD, autism, sensory sensitivities, Sensory Processing Disorder, Developmental Delay, and Twice Exceptionality. We are open to working with all humans that are not meeting their full potential.

We work with your child to build developmental motor skills, create adaptations to environmental and sensory challenges, and learn to recognize how we feel (emotionally and physically) in our body. Progress on goals is accomplished through play-based, sensory-based occupations that are highly individualized to your child’s skills, needs, motivations, and interests.

For parents/caregivers, we teach you to understand your child from a strengths-based, therapeutic lens. Often, parents need dedicated support to learn why traditional discipline measures fail to improve their child’s behavior and what alternative methods can be taken. With a compassionate approach, we take the time to address parents’ concerns and problem-solve together.

Individual and group sessions are 45 minutes.

Parent sessions are 50 minutes and take place in the Telehealth client portal

Our therapeutic approach is informed by the D.I.R. Model which emphasizes the importance of social-emotional learning and development through relationships. As such, we find that a child’s therapeutic success depends on parental involvement. We recommend consistent (once a month) parent sessions to increase your child’s progress towards their goals. These are 50-minute sessions and take place through the Telehealth portal on SimplePractice.

Oak Bloom works with graduate-level interns in their final months of study pre-licensure. At the beginning of an intern’s rotation, we establish rapport with clients and learn about their therapeutic needs. After the first few weeks, the intern takes on more responsibilities, including some treatment when they demonstrate clinical competency. Per the California Board of Occupational Therapy guidelines, the occupational therapist is close by and collaborates on all treatment planning.

We continue to follow Alameda County COVID-19 guidelines as they shift. Currently, we are masking per each family’s comfort level. Practitioners, interns, and volunteers are vaccinated and boosted.

If your child displays any cold symptoms (cough, sneeze, runny nose, etc..), please ask your child to wear a mask during the session to prevent the spread of colds/flus. If you let us know, we can mask as well. If any of the Oak Bloom staff are feeling "off" we will wear a mask.

We will not charge you with a notice greater than 24 hours in advance. If less than 24 hours, 50% of session cost will be billed on the next invoice. If there is an unexpected illness and/or if OT is able to schedule another session after the 24 hour window, you will not be charged. Each family is granted one "freebie" per calendar year if a last minute cancellation needs to happen and you are unable to schedule within the week.

Oak Bloom OT providers are considered “out-of-network” for most insurance policies.

Depending on the type of insurance you have and your child has a diagnosis from a doctor, you may be eligible for reimbursement by your insurance company.  Check with your insurance company first to see how much they cover for "out-of-network" providers for Occupational Therapy. Oak Bloom OT will do our best to provide an invoice that is tailored to your insurance needs.
