We work with children of all ages, including adolescents! Some of our clients have official diagnoses, while others do not. We frequently work with clients who have ADHD, autism, sensory sensitivities, Sensory Processing Disorder, developmental delays, and "Twice Exceptional." We also work with adults on a case-by-case basis, as we are open to working with anyone who is not reaching their fullest potential.
We work with your child to build developmental motor skills, adapt environments to address motor, physical, and sensory challenges, and learn to recognize how they feel (emotionally and physically) in their body. Progress is accomplished through intentional play and sensory-based activities, which are highly individualized to your child’s skills, needs, motivations, and interests.
As a parent or caregiver, we help you learn to understand your child from a strengths-based, therapeutic lens. Often, parents need dedicated support to learn why traditional discipline approaches fail to improve their child’s behavior and what alternative methods can be taken. We take the time to address parents’ concerns and problem solve (and learn!) together.
Individual and group sessions are 45 minutes, held in-person at our clinic. Parent sessions are 50 minutes and take place virtually through telehealth.
Our therapeutic approach is informed by the D.I.R. Model, which emphasizes the importance of social-emotional learning and development through relationships. As such, we find that a child’s therapeutic success depends on parental involvement. We recommend consistent (monthly) parent sessions to maximize your child’s progress towards their goals.
Oak Bloom works with graduate-level interns in their final months of study pre-licensure. At the beginning of an intern’s rotation with us, they establish rapport with our clients while observing our therapists treating. Once comfortable and having established competency, interns gradually take on more responsibility, including client treatment, all under the direct supervision of an Oak Bloom OT. For more information about the valuable role of interns at Oak Bloom OT, please read this article.

Per the California Board of Occupational Therapy guidelines, a registered and licensed occupational therapist is close by and collaborates on all treatment planning.
If you cancel at least 24 hours in advance, you will not be charged for your session. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged 50% of the session rate. If there is an unexpected illness or conflict, please let us know. Each family is granted one "freebie" cancellation per calendar year,
Oak Bloom OT is an “out-of-network” provider. Depending on the type of insurance you have (and if your child has a diagnosis from a doctor), you may be eligible for reimbursement by your insurance company. We encourage you to contact your insurance company and ask about out-of-network benefits for occupational therapy. We're happy to provide you with a monthly superbill to submit to insurance.
